3D Scanning in Novato, CA

Novato covers more ground than any other Marin city, and its scanning work spans an unusually wide range of building types. Hamilton, the redeveloped former Air Force base on the bay margin, left behind hangars and base-era structures with long-span framing and generous volumes that continue to be adapted to new uses. Along Redwood Boulevard and the Bel Marin corridor there are office, laboratory, and light-industrial buildings that need existing-conditions models before tenant improvements and modernizations. Out west, ranch buildings and rural facilities carry framing that has moved over a century. All of them share the same condition: whatever drawings exist do not match what is standing. One scanning visit records the building as it is, at survey grade, and every consultant then works from the same registered dataset.

The infrastructure here is defined by water and rail. SMART operates three stations in Novato, at San Marin, downtown, and Hamilton, with track and grade crossings running the length of the city; the bay margin at Hamilton and Bel Marin Keys is low, reclaimed ground held behind levees and pump systems, next to large wetland restoration areas; and the highway and arterial structures over the creeks add bridges and culverts to the list. We scan those assets on a survey control network tied to published horizontal and vertical control, and deliver clearance surveys, structural as-builts, levee crown and slope profiles, and baseline epochs for repeat monitoring, so settlement of fill and structures can be measured rather than estimated.

Deliverables are registered point clouds in E57 or RCP, scan-to-CAD plans, sections, and elevations in DWG/DXF, and Revit models at the level of detail the project justifies.
