3D Scanning in Pleasanton, CA

We provide survey-grade 3D laser scanning throughout Pleasanton and the Tri-Valley, documenting office and R&D interiors, historic downtown buildings, and new construction as point clouds and scan-to-CAD drawings on survey control.

3D Scanning in Pleasanton: Local Conditions

Most of Pleasanton's commercial scanning work is in Hacienda. The business park covers about 900 acres next to the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station. It was approved in 1982 and ratified by Pleasanton voters in 1983, and it was planned as office space that would cost less than Silicon Valley or San Francisco. More than forty years on, its multi-story office buildings and company headquarters turn over and get re-planned for new tenants. Each of those projects starts the same way: the design team needs the cores, shafts, columns, ceiling heights, and above-ceiling conditions as they are now, not as a previous tenant's fit-out drawings show them. A scan of an occupied floor collects all of that in one visit, working around the tenants rather than displacing them.

Downtown is a different job. Pleasanton incorporated in 1894, and because its historic downtown was preserved, the city still has buildings in architectural styles going back to the mid-19th century. Storefront rehabilitations, additions, and seismic or accessibility upgrades on those buildings need facades, floor levels, and framing recorded accurately, including walls that lean and floors that have settled. The scan captures that without touching historic material. South of downtown, the Alameda County Fairgrounds is a 270-acre facility that has hosted the county fair since 1912. New office, lab, and light-industrial buildings across the city can use construction verification: anchor bolts and structural steel checked to 1/8 inch from the scan, with total station check shots on any bolt group near tolerance, plus slab deviation and levelness maps.

Control is GNSS primary and Trimble S3 total station secondary, and every Trimble X9 scan is registered to that network in Trimble Business Center. We work in US survey feet and hold control to 0.01 US survey feet relative to project control. Tighter verification is available on request, and the report states the accuracy actually achieved. Deliverables are a registered, cleaned point cloud (E57, LAS, or RCP), scan-to-CAD plans, sections and elevations, 3D linework, and coded points. Because the scan holds far more than the drawing list, the dimension nobody thought to ask for during a Hacienda re-stack usually comes out of the cloud in the office instead of from another site visit. We also work in Dublin and San Ramon. See 3D laser scanning, scanning in Livermore, and our Pleasanton surveying page.

Our Process

1

Project Planning

We assess your site and requirements to plan optimal scan positions and deliverable specifications.

2

Field Scanning

Our technicians capture millions of precise 3D points using state-of-the-art laser scanners.

3

Data Processing

Scan data is registered, cleaned, and processed into unified point clouds.

4

Deliverable Creation

We produce both interactive 3D models for easy visualization and traditional 2D plan sets — so every stakeholder can understand the site, whether they read blueprints or not.

3D Scanning in Pleasanton: FAQ

Usually, yes. The scanner is non-contact and moves quickly between setups, so we work around tenants or schedule early mornings and weekends. One visit captures walls, columns, cores, ceiling heights, and, with tiles lifted at intervals, the plenum above. The architect gets floor plans and sections to design from, and the point cloud answers later questions without another visit.
Measured floor plans, building sections, and street elevations of the building as it stands, with the lean of the walls, the settlement in the floors, and the slope of the sidewalk along the frontage. Nothing touches the historic fabric. The registered cloud comes with the drawings, so the architect and structural engineer can take any extra measurement they need later.
It shows how far the surface departs from level across the whole floor, not at a handful of spot readings. We deliver deviation and levelness maps referenced to project control, before and after the pour if you want both. It is a measured picture of the surface for the engineer or contractor to evaluate, not a flatness rating.
