ADA Ramp Surveys in Pleasant Hill, CA

Two very different accessibility environments sit within a mile of each other here. Downtown Pleasant Hill along Crescent Drive is a walkable retail district built as a unified project, with plazas, shared parking, and long routes from stalls to storefronts, which means accessibility is a route problem more than a single-ramp problem. A short distance southeast is Contra Costa Centre, the transit village around the Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre BART station on Treat Boulevard. Contra Costa Centre is unincorporated Contra Costa County rather than city territory, so the sidewalks and curb ramps there fall under the County, which maintains an adopted ADA Transition Plan and upgrades or installs curb ramps through an annual program.
