Surveying & 3D Scanning in Stockton
Stockton is one of the oldest cities in the valley. Charles Weber founded it in 1849 on the San Joaquin River, it was incorporated by the county court on July 23, 1850, and it grew as the supply point and road hub for the gold settlements. It is the San Joaquin County seat, with 320,804 residents at the 2020 census. A city that old has layers of records: early town lots, rancho-era lines, and more than a century of subdivision maps. Boundary work often means reconciling those records with improvements that have been rebuilt several times. Water adds another layer. The Stockton Deepwater Shipping Channel and the Delta sloughs border much of the city, and the Lower San Joaquin River Project is strengthening 23 miles of levee along the San Joaquin and Calaveras rivers, so topography near the levees needs a good vertical datum.
Commercial and industrial work centers on the Port of Stockton, about 4,200 acres with 15 berths and up to 7.7 million square feet of warehouse storage, including the West Complex on Rough and Ready Island, a former Navy supply depot. Downtown and midtown hold National Register buildings such as the 1910 Hotel Stockton. We provide ALTA/NSPS and as-built surveys and survey-grade 3D laser scanning on project control, with registered point clouds, scan-to-CAD plans, sections, and elevations. Contour Survey is based in Lotus, El Dorado County, and schedules Stockton field days as planned trips.
